Bloomily vs. Google Forms

Choose Bloomily when a form and a sheet now run your whole season or school year: camp weeks that fill, tuition on autopay, check-in at the door and messages to families. Google Forms builds forms and surveys with logic and a linked Google Sheet, which suits one-off sign-ups and surveys.

Google Forms in its own words

Google says Forms lets you "easily create forms and surveys to gather data and gain insights from anywhere" (Google Forms). Its help center describes using it to "create online surveys, quizzes, and forms, send them to others to fill out" (Google help). Programs use it for registration forms, enrollment packets and parent surveys.

Forms can add logic "to show relevant questions based on previous answers," and you can export the raw data into Google Sheets. A responder signed in to Google gets a draft saved for 30 days. Google says Forms files are encrypted in transit and at rest (Google Forms). Responses can be stored in a linked Google Sheet, and access to the form and to the sheet is managed separately (Google help on responses). A file-upload question asks responders to sign in to a Google Account. The files land in a new folder in the form owner's Google Drive (Google help on file uploads).

Where Bloomily fits a camp, preschool or aftercare program better

A form collects answers once. A season or a school year asks more. It needs places that fill, money that arrives on time, a roster at the door and families who hear from you. In Bloomily, those jobs work from the same family.

Sign-ups with limits built in. For camps, families register from your camp's own page and pay a deposit. Each week has its own capacity, and a full week keeps a waiting list (Bloomily for camps). For preschools and aftercare, enrollment forms take custom fields, uploads and digital signatures, attached to the family's record (Bloomily online enrollment). Waitlists promote the next family, and missing signatures get reminders in each family's language (Bloomily enrollment).

Money that comes in on schedule. Families pay by card or bank transfer, and the money goes to your own Stripe account (Bloomily payments). Each family has one autopay, one statement and one history, however many children it has (Bloomily billing). For preschools and aftercare, tuition bills on your charge day (Bloomily for preschools). For camps, deposits come in at registration and the balance bill is made for you (Bloomily for camps). When a payment fails, the family is asked to update their card and the payment retries (Bloomily billing features).

Check-in at the door. Families check in at a tablet by the door with the last 4 digits of their phone, then a PIN (Bloomily check-in). Parents add pickup people, each with their own PIN, and the office can remove them (Bloomily for aftercare). For camps, counselors check campers in and out from the staff app on iPhone (Bloomily camp registration).

Families who hear from you. Messages arrive translated into each parent's language, and replies come back in yours. Broadcasts go out by push and email (Bloomily communication). Families get a notice when their child is checked in or out. In the parent app, they view invoices, pay and set up autopay (Bloomily parent app).

When Google Forms is enough

Google Forms fits well when the job is a single form. Think of a parent survey, an RSVP for a family night or a volunteer list for a field trip. None of those needs a program system. If your team already works in Google Workspace, a form and a sheet may be all those jobs need.

You may have outgrown it when:

  • You copy rows from the sheet to count who is in each week or class.
  • Payments arrive through a separate link, and you match them to names by hand.
  • The roster at the door is a printout that gets updated in pen.
  • Each new season, families type the same allergy and pickup details again.

If you keep Forms for some jobs, two notes from Google's help pages are worth knowing. Access to a form and to its linked sheet is set in two places, so update both when someone leaves your team. Google also notes that deleting responses is permanent (Google help on responses).

Moving from Google Forms to Bloomily

Bring the list you keep today, as it is. AI help does the reading. That can be a spreadsheet, another system's export, a PDF or a photo of a paper list. It reads children, with birthdays, allergies, dietary notes and medical notes, along with families and pickup people. Nothing saves until you approve it.

When you are ready, send each family one invite. Their child is already on their account. Keep your old system running beside Bloomily as long as you like (Switching to Bloomily).

Questions to ask before you choose

  • How will a week or class stop taking sign-ups when it is full, and who gets the next place?
  • How will a family pay a registration fee or deposit as part of signing up?
  • How will monthly tuition or a camp balance reach a family's card on time?
  • How will staff check children in and out, and where will that record live?
  • How will you keep one record per child when a family fills in several forms a year?
  • How will families get messages from their child's group or room?

Which one fits your program

Keep Google Forms for surveys, RSVPs and one-off sign-ups. Choose Bloomily when sign-ups, money, check-in and family messages need to stay tied to each child across a season or a school year. See Bloomily for camps, preschools and aftercare, with pricing for camps, preschools and aftercare.

Questions, answered

Is Bloomily a good Google Forms alternative for a camp or preschool?

Yes, when your forms now run a whole season or school year. For camps, each week in Bloomily has its own capacity and waiting list. Deposits come in at registration, and the balance bill is made for you. For preschools and aftercare, tuition bills on your charge day and families on autopay pay without a nudge.

Can you use Google Forms for camp registration?

Yes. Google Forms builds forms with logic that shows questions based on earlier answers, and responses can go to a linked Google Sheet. Before a season, decide how you will handle full weeks, payments and morning check-in around the form and the sheet.

How much does Google Forms cost?

Google's Forms page lists no separate price. Forms appears on the Google Workspace plans, and the Workspace pricing page says its prices are per user per month, before tax. Bloomily publishes one price per location on its pricing pages.

Can parents upload documents to a Google Form?

Yes, with a file-upload question. Google's help page says responders must sign in to a Google Account to answer it. The files go to a new folder in the form owner's Google Drive. In Bloomily, preschool and aftercare enrollment forms take uploads and digital signatures, attached to the family's record.

Can I bring my Google Sheet into Bloomily?

Yes. Bring the list you keep today, as it is: a spreadsheet, another system's export, a PDF or a photo of a paper list. AI help does the reading, and nothing saves until you approve it.
